What Is MOTRIN® (Ibuprofen) for Kids?
MOTRIN® contains ibuprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). The MOTRIN® family of pediatric products can provide relief from pain and fever in children.
The ibuprofen in MOTRIN® disrupts the production of substances known as prostaglandins, which the body produces in response to an injury. These contribute to pain and inflammation.

Ensure that you provide children with the correct MOTRIN® dosage by carefully following the instructions on the packaging label. This can help you administer the medication in a safe and effective manner.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
When giving any medicine to a child, always read and follow the product label instructions carefully
Find the right Children’s MOTRIN® dose using our dosage chart
If possible, use weight to dose; otherwise, use age
Only use the dosing device provided with the medicine. Do not use any other dosing device
Do not give more than directed dose
If needed, repeat the dose after every 6-8 hours. But do not use more than 4 times a day
Shake well before use

If an allergic reaction occurs, stop use and seek medical help right away.
Stomach bleeding warning: This product contains an NSAID, which may cause severe stomach bleeding. The chance is higher if your child:
Has had stomach ulcers or bleeding problems
Takes a blood thinning (anticoagulant) or steroid drug
Takes other drugs containing prescription or nonprescription NSAIDs (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, or others)
Takes more or for a longer time than directed
Sore throat warning: Severe or persistent sore throat or sore throat accompanied by high fever, headache, nausea and vomiting may be serious. Consult doctor promptly. Do not use more than 2 days or administer to children under 3 years of age unless directed by doctor.

If the child has ever had an allergic reaction to ibuprofen or any other pain reliever/fever reducer
Right before or after heart surgery
Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away. (1-800-222-1222)
